From Melissa Myozen Blacker, Roshi:
On the night of December 2nd, in a secret ceremony held late in the night during the December Rohatsu sesshin at Boundless Way Temple, I gave my student James Myosan Cordova denbo, or full Dharma transmission. The ancient traditional ceremony was attended by all four Boundless Way Zen Guiding Teachers, along with some of our other Dharma Holders.
James now has the title “sensei.” Along with Dharma Holder Diane Shoshin Fitzgerald, he continues to work with David and me as resident teacher at the Temple. The Boundless Way Zen Leadership Council has also voted him in as a Guiding Teacher in Boundless Way Zen. James is my first fully transmitted Dharma heir.
James is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at Clark University. In addition to being resident teacher at the Temple, he serves as the Resident Teacher of the Benevolent Street Zen Sangha in Providence, RI.
